Relatives of a 90-year-old Babylon woman contacted New York State Police on Thursday, Oct. 24, after noticing several suspicious transactions on her bank statement.
An investigation revealed that the woman’s home health aide, 39-year-old Jeneva Polwah, of Levittown, had used her debit card to make several Amazon purchases, police said.
A total of $1,850 worth of Amazon purchases was charged to the victim’s card between June and October 2024.
“Polwah misused her position of trust to steal money from a vulnerable 90-year-old individual,” state police said. “This is a serious crime that can have devastating consequences not only for the victim, but their family as well both financially and emotionally.”
Polwah was arrested Monday, Nov. 11, on suspicion of:
- Identity theft (felony)
- Grand larceny (felony)
- Unlawful possession of personal identification information (misdemeanor)
New York State Police asked anyone who may have been a victim of Polwah to contact the agency at 631-756-3300.
